Our visit to the Ealy house
We have started our unit on Life Long Ago with a visit to the Ealy House here in New Albany. The Ealy house is one of the oldest dwellings in New Albany. The students had a chance to see what life was like in 1860. We used a machine to take kernels off of corn cobs, learned how clothing and material were produced, and saw some of the toys and games that children played with. It was a fun beginning to a great unit!

Halloween Party
I would like to thank our room parents, as well as those parents who came to volunteer at the party. What a great success! The kids had so much fun! The witches fingers were a great touch!

Red Ribbon Week!
As part of Red Ribbon Week, K-1 School Counselor Mrs. Schubert has planned a series of spirit days. In case you missed the letter in your child's backpack, you can read it by clicking here. In summary, here are the themes for this week:
Monday — “My Future Is Bright” (wear bright colorful clothes)
Tuesday -- "Speak Up For Kindness" (wear clothing with words)
Wednesday -- "Everyone Counts" (wear a jersey or shirt with numbers)
Thursday -- "Eagle Pride" (New Albany sportswear)
Each of these spirit days is very low-key, so please do not worry if you don't have something that matches the theme for your child to wear.

New friends!
This week we had the chance to have a real Ohio State Buckeye come and read to our class. Darron Lee was the quarterback for the New Albany Eagles before he went to OSU. He was nice enough to come in and talk about how important reading and writing are in college and even for football! The kids really enjoyed the visit.

Top it!
IToday we are playing Top-it! First we make our own playing cards up to 20. Then we each put out a card and figure out which one is greater. The one with the most cards at the end wins!
